The John S. Bickley Founder's Award is named after the founder of the International Insurance Society (IIS). It honors individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to insurance thought, practice or education. The Founder's Award recipient is elected annually by secret ballot by the IIS Honors Committee, a body of senior insurance executives across industry sectors and regions of the world as well as leading academicians. The IIS, founded in 1965, is a global forum for all stakeholders of the industry, examining vital issues which shape the industry and drive growth and innovation towards narrowing the protection gap. Members from over 90 countries include re/insurance executives, regulators, academicians and representatives from international institutions.

CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

  • Nominees must be adjudged to have a broad, encompassing and lasting contribution that impacts the insurance industry, thereby affecting a substantial influence on the ability of the industry to serve society.
